Researching the history of Castlemilk has been a difficult task, it has taken years of research to gather information and piece it together. Records are lost and stories forgotten over the years. Many people have been involved in this research and most of all, credit must be given to the now disbanded 'Castlemilk History group' who did fantastic work culminating in the production of the book 'The incomplete history of Castlemilk' back in the early 1990's. This work has been carried forward and brought up to date by the project 'Lost Lands' producing a video, DVD, display and CD rom. Credit must also go to The old Castlemilk Arts office where the video 'Looking for Mr Rogers' was produced by Paul Cameron, that detailed the making of Castlemilk housing estate in the late 1940's.
If this information had not been saved people would see the Castlemilk area as just another housing estate. Well it's NOT, Castlemilk is rich in history and when you read on you will be pleasantly surprised.
